about me

nice to meet you

Hello, I am Jonathan but these two guys are my dogs Hugo and Harvey. Anytime I have that is not spent on my PhD, is spent with these two.

I have now completed the 1st year of my research. My PhD is in financial regulatory law focusing on the regulatory environment for commercial private debt.

My research will consist of exploring the theory of regulation and if the current legislative environment is sufficient should the financial sector face negative externalities.

I hope that you will find some useful information within my blogs and that if you are more mature than the average person in the adventure you want to undertake, that you can find some inspiration to go ahead and start the challenge.

upcoming projects

This year is one of new adventures for me. I have completed the Royal Yachting Association’s level 1 and 2 in sailing. This spring and summer will be my first year as a cricket umpire in my local league.

To provide me with relief from my studies, I joined a sailing club and have met most of the members who have been incredibly welcoming and helpful. It is great to meet new friends who are willing to share their passion of sailing freely with you.

I will be renovating my GP14 sailing dinghy and once it is completed, I shall be sailing throughout the summer weekends. I need a kicker and a repair to my mast but the remainder of the work is maintenance of the boat and the trailer.

I recently completed the English Cricket Board (ECB) course to become a cricket umpire. As I am not as young as I used to be, becoming an umpire allows me to still be involved in one of my favourite sports and is a great escape from the mental fatigue experienced throughout the PhD.

Stay tuned for updates of my assured capsizing and the mistakes I will make in cricket games this season.
